Tutorial: Resizing an image to 200 pixels by 200 pixels in Photoshop Elements
These instructions will only work if your computer has already been configured with Photoshop Elements as the default image editor for Dreamweaver. Please see Mr. O'Connell for instructions if you need assistance with this.
- Double click the image file to open it in Photoshop Elements
- Click on the crop tool

- Shift+drag from outside any corner of the image to select a perfect square
- Move the square if you wish with the arrow keys in order to select exactly which part of the original image you wish to keep
- Click the green checkmark

- In the Image menu, choose resize>image size
- Make sure Resample Image is checked (see example below)
- If necessary, change the Resolution to 72
- Make sure Constrain Proportions is checked
- Change either the height or width to 200 pixels (they will both change to 200 in any case because the proportions are constrained)
- Click Okay
- Click the File menu, and choose Save
- If necessary, change the Format to .jpg
- Navigate to your image folder
- Click on the name of the image you wish to replace
- Click save
- If asked, click yes to replacing the image
- Click okay on the jpeg options dialog box
- You're done
