Web Design Midterm
January 2012
Mr. O’Connell
You will end this term by creating a web site that reflects your thoughts and ideas about the present, past, and future of web design here at Oliver Ames High School. During this course, we have discussed a number of different applications related to web design, and we have acquired a variety of new skills. This Midterm is designed to give you an opportunity to show some of your web design skills, and reflect on your learning.
1. Web Page Design Midterm: Reflections on the Present Past and Future
This test will be given on the computers. Read all of the instructions carefully before you begin! You may use any hand written notes that you wish, as long as they are your own work. You may use a graphic organizer if you wish. You may use any appropriate web resources you wish. If you are in any doubt about what would be considered an appropriate resource, please ask first.
● When you are finished:
● Make sure your name and the date appear on EACH page
● Make sure you have included a Title for each page. The Title must appear at the top of the page as well as in the Title Bar.
● Print your pages
● Staple them together
● Make sure everything is there!
● Hand them in (don't just leave them in the printer!)
You must use a color scheme for your site, and you must follow it consistently for all four pages. Use a light colored background, and use darker colors for the text and links. Make sure you have good contrast, as described during the first half of the course. DO NOT USE A BLACK BACKGROUND, AND DO NOT USE A COLOR SCHEME OF RED AND BLACK. 30 POINTS WILL BE DEDUCTED IF YOU DO.
Each web page (except the home page) must contain one paragraph. This paragraph will contain a minimum of five complete sentences- an opening sentence, three or more sentences in the body of the paragraph, and a closing sentence. Do not give one-word answers. Because of the hypertext format, it is impossible to give you an exact number of words as a requirement, but you are expected to be working on the page for the entire exam period. Do not plan on leaving early. Also, no help will be given during the exam, although you are welcome to use any online help resources you wish.
